Problem solving

Problem solving is the ability to identify a problem, analyse its causes, then design and implement appropriate solutions. It calls upon logic creativityorganisation and decision-making. This skill requires both rational approaches and interpersonal skills (listening, cooperation, etc.).

It's a key cross-functional skill for moving forward despite obstacles, in any professional environment.

Why develop this soft skill?

Problem solving is essential for :

  • Practising methods such as the PDCA cycle, the 5 Whys method, Ishikawa and design thinking
  • Learn to pose a problem clearly and neutrally
  • Look for several solutions, without stopping at the first one
  • Taking a step back to avoid emotional over-reaction
  • Working together across disciplines to combine expertise
